How to Plan a Baby Shower for a Friend

If you are planning a baby shower for a friend there is a complete list of items that you must plan for in advance of the celebration. It might look like a simple occasion, but if expect the party to be a home run there are certain details that you must be sure that you take care of.

Find a location.

If the event is to be a surprise you can’t expect to have it at the residence of the mom to be. You will need to be certain that the place is large enough to accommodate all the guests, but not too formal. Generally these events are just a group of friends getting together, so it is often nicer to be able to take it easy in someone’s house or yard than have to be on your best behaviour in a cafe. It’s more affordable too. Of course, you may require extra supplies or seating.

Get the decorations organized.

You can have pink or blue designed arrangements if you know what sex the baby is going to be, or you can also select other neutral colors that can still fit within a baby concept. You can get ceiling streamers with baby or animal patterns cut out of them, or balloons with storks printed on them or a complete host of other adornments ranging from funny and tacky to classy and costly.

Provide some food.

Be sure that there is some kind of meal for your guests. Even if you are carrying out the party on a low budget you will need to organize some snacks. Make sure you verify if anyone has food allergies, and if youngsters are attending you will require child friendly foods as well. You will also need drinks. Decide if you feel it is right to serve alcoholic drinks considering the mom to be won’t be able to drink.

Make sure there is a safe area for babies to play, if mothers with youthful children are invited.

If you don’t do this then you will have to be permanently examining that the youngsters aren’t’ getting in to trouble or toying with issues they shouldn’t be.

Organize a gift list.

If you circulate a gift list, once you determine which people are attending, then you will be certain that the mother to be won’t get lots of equivalent gifts. If you know there are gifts she wants, then make sure you include these on the list. Or, recommend that she plan a registry. Try to make sure there are inexpensive choices as well so some people don’t feel that they have to purchase a gift that is more pricey than they want or can afford.

Don’t forget to mail out the invites well in advance!

If you don’t let people know when the shower is then all your efforts will be wasted! Or, people may already have other plans. If you send penned invites guests are considerably more likely to remember to attend the event than if you just mention it in person or make a call. They will have a composed reminder that they can leave in a memorable place in their house so that they don’t forget to attend!

Finally, have fun! A baby shower is a joyous occasion so be prepared, but don’t stress!
